- Glasses & respirator
The Uvex Bionic delivers clear vision when paired with glasses or a respirator, thanks to an anti-fog coating that actually holds up in humid conditions. The lightweight headgear adjusts through hundreds of positions for a secure fit, and the polycarbonate visor meets ANSI Z87 impact standards — enough protection for grinding, turning, and overhead debris. Comfort holds up for hours of continuous wear.
This shield is built for woodworkers who already wear prescription glasses or a half-mask respirator — there is ample room inside the visor for both. The tradeoff shows when using over-ear earmuffs: the side arms can push against the cups, requiring some adjustment. The hard coat resists scratches better than uncoated plastic, but the visor can still pick up marks over time if handled roughly.
💡 Remove the protective film from both sides of the visor before first use to see the real anti-fog performance.
Pros
- Anti-fog coating stays clear even with a respirator underneath
- Lightweight and balanced for all-day comfort
- Adjustable headgear accommodates glasses and additional PPE
Cons
- Over-ear earmuffs may need repositioning to fit under the side arms
- Visor can develop fine scratches over time despite the hard coat
The Uvex Bionic is the face shield most woodworkers should start with — clear fog-free vision and room for glasses and respirators at a reasonable price.
